I'm Carolynne Fromme

In 2009, I founded Fromme Productions LLC, dedicated to creating original fine art that confronts, comforts, and compels viewers to pause in a world that rarely allows for stillness. My work emerges from an intuitive process: energetic, gestural brushstrokes that channel emotion, memory, and sensation into visual language.

I am a visual artist and painter based in Manhattan. The relentless pulse of urban life has shaped my practice, my studies at NYU, and my mentors at the Art Students League, particularly Knox Martin.

 

My abstract expressionist and impressionistic paintings are born from a place of reckoning. They hold the weight of what I've witnessed, the places that have marked me, and the urgent need to create work that matters.

In a moment when America has stumbled, when women's voices and bodies are under siege, my work offers something essential: a place for your eyes to rest, to grieve, to rage, and to remember what it feels like to be moved by something real. The gestural marks on my canvases are not decorative. They are evidence of presence, of refusing to disappear.

Alongside my painting practice, I am the author and illustrator of The Secret Society of Magical Stufflies, a humorous children's book set in New York City about a brother who delights in pranking his little sister. This is a funny book, full of mischief and laughter, a dynamic anyone with an older sibling knows intimately. Beneath the humor lies a quiet thread of magic: the Stufflies offer protection, companionship, and the kind of comfort we all wished for growing up. The book is written, and I am currently completing the illustrations.

And then there are the cards. Oh, the cards. I make cards that are sharp, unflinching, and a little dangerous, like a rat that just ran in front of me as I was passing the Chanel store on Madison Avenue. They tackle politics, love, family, and the utterly ridiculous state of life in America right now. No Hallmark smiles here. Just laughter, truth, and a touch of mischief for anyone brave enough to send it. They're coming soon. Watch for them

Along with creating art, I teach painting to children and adults worldwide, both online and in homes throughout New York City. I teach that being an artist requires courage to witness, to listen deeply, and to resist the impulse to look away. Art is not background noise or decorative filler. It is a language that challenges, questions, and creates space for what we cannot easily articulate.
